Electric Stoves

An electric stove is a kitchen appliance that uses electricity to heat up coils or flat surfaces, which in turn heat cookware for cooking food.  It typically has multiple burners (or cooking zones) on the top, with a control panel to adjust the temperature of each burner. Electric stoves can come with either coil burners, which are metal coils that heat up when electricity flows through them, or smooth ceramic or glass tops, which have heating elements underneath and provide a sleek, easy-to-clean surface.

The heat on an electric stove is generated by electric currents running through the heating elements.  It's a popular alternative to gas stoves because it’s easier to use and maintain, though some people prefer gas stoves for the precision and immediate control they offer.
